Blogs and Social Networking sites
Do you have your own blog, MySpace, Facebook or other social networking account? Following are ideas on what you can do to help spread the word about sustainable food:

  • Write about sustainable food and post the information on your blog or site. You could write about going to the farmers market, meeting your local farmer, or try to eat local for one week and blog about it!
  • Post some of the issues from our Issues section - all we ask is that you give us credit and link back to the Sustainable Table site.
  • Share some of our recipes with others.
  • Link to our Ecocentric blog from your blog.
  • Trackback our articles onto your site.
  • Sign up for our RSS feed.
  • Post Comments on the Ecocentric Blog - Stay current with food news and what Moopheus, Leo and Chickity are doing by reading Ecocentric blog. The blog is a way to keep up to date with Sustainable Table, The Meatrix, and news about sustainable food and industrial agriculture - leave comments to let us know what you're thinking.
  • Post Sustainable Table and Meatrix graphics and link to our site.

Sticker, flier, poster
Download and print posters of The Meatrix from our graphics page, or contact us to receive postcards, 8½ x 11 posters and stickers by mail. You can:

  • Send a Sustainable Table and/or Meatrix postcard to everyone you know.
  • Hang posters in public places in your city, town or local area.
  • Leave out postcards in public places for consumers to pick up.
  • Pass out stickers to children and adults.
  • Places to put out materials include:
    • Bookstores
    • Bulletin boards at your local grocery store
    • Campus dining halls and student centers
    • Coffee shops
    • Farmers markets
    • Hair/nail salons
    • Health food stores
    • Independent movie theaters
    • Laundromats
    • Malls
    • Restaurants (especially organic/sustainable ones)
    • Wellness centers
    • Yoga centers
    • Or any public place where you are permitted to leave material!

Power of the Pen
The pen (or computer keyboard!) can create positive change. Ideas on what you can write about include:

  • Write an editorial about factory farming or sustainable food and submit to your local paper.
  • Like our feature articles on Sustainable Table? Try to get your favorite online and/or print magazine or site to reprint them.
  • Submit your own article to magazines, newspapers and online publications - Most local papers look for interesting articles. Find out how industrial farming or sustainable food ties into your community and write about it. Even if you don't have a factory farm nearby, you could write about how consumers are impacted by industrial food production. Or write about your local farmers market. Put links to our sites in your piece. If you get an article printed, please send us a copy! Go to the Issues section for information and ideas.
  • Think we should be mentioned in a magazine you read? Write the publication and let them know! Same goes for web sites and other outlets - send them our url and why you think we should be mentioned in their publication.
  • If you see an article in a paper or magazine that upsets or moves you, write a letter to the editor.
  • What have you done to change your buying and eating habits to be more sustainable? What has happened since you've gone sustainable? Email Sustainable Table at info@sustainabletable.org and we'll publish your comments in our "Stories" section.
