Food Inc. opens tomorrow in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles and I urge anyone and everyone in those areas to go see it! In fact, even if you have to take a train, a plane or an automobile, I’d say it’s worth it! Ok, maybe not a plane. But the more people who go see this fantastic, educational film, the more likely it is to spread to different and cities and throughout the nation.

Food, Inc. is a film that needs to be seen from the cornfields of Ohio to the CAFOs of the Carolinas. It certainly made an impression on me, and I think it will have a similar effect on all those who see it. I brought two friends to a screening in New York who were more or less un-versed in the sustainable food movement and as the movie played, I watched their jaws drop at the food-inc-goodinformation that was being shared. Everything from the chicken houses to the link between Monsanto and the government was news to them and I think it will be news to many who see the film. They have since changed certain elements of their diets, such as starting to buy organic yogurt and meat.

We have already posted a review by Sustainable Table’s program director Rich Sanders, which you can read here. The New York Times came out with a positive preview of the film just last week. You can also read this interview from The New York Times with director Robert Kenner from October. Participant Media, the producers of Food, Inc as well as An Inconvenient Truth, are doing a big media and PR push now, so help them get out the word! Stoneyfield Yogurt is also promoting the film with advertisements on their yogurt lids throughout the month, so hopefully there will be a high demand for the film in theatres.

We are on the verge of a potential food revolution, and films like Food, Inc are helping dramatically in spreading the word. Never before has there been such a big-budget, attention grabbing, feature-length film supporting the ideals of sustainable and organic farming and eating. So get out there and support the film, and as the movie says, vote with your fork three times a day!
