Wow this is my first time on your website. Will definitely be back. I consider myself to be moderately aware of information regarding farming, as a former daughter of a farmer. But the percent on the farming stats as it relates to Big Ag are a surprise and shock to me. As a consumer and co-op member I see more and more corporate farm 'taints' on our shelves. This breaks my heart as well as health. How can we get the board to understand their choices are leading to a dead end?
And Re: Renee M you're exactly right about the churches. Doing farming the right way is hard work, the shortcuts are often tempting. So is the way for many churches and people of the cloth.

This article says exactly what Michael Bunker @ biblicalagrarianism.com has been saying for years, although for a different reason. Much of the bible is written in agrarian terms. Living an agrarian lifestyle brings more meaning to the scriptures.

We, as a society, have left our roots, left the land to large agricultural giants who taint our food, just as large 'christian' ministries have tainted the Word of God.

This article expresses exactly how we feel at Hydro Harvest Farms. We try to educate the children (and their parents) about how their food gets to their table, and about the heirloom veggies we grow and why it's important to grow them. They are the next generation of consumers. Although megamarts are here to stay, we should all try to support local farm and farm stands at least once a week, if not more. And the economic and health benefits of growing your own food is obvious. Great article
