  • Is this still edible?

April 29th, 2009 Posted by Dawn No Comments

I grew up with a grandmother who, on a regular basis, opened a can of food, smelled it, and determined it was rotten. cansoupNow, as an adult, I suspect she might have been overly cautious!

I continue to be rather picky and concerned about all food that ends up in my refrigerator. I never know how long prepared foods will last, or if it’s ok to eat those carrots after a month. Today, I stumbled on this great website, Still Tasty,  that will answer all these questions for us (obviously others are concerned too!).

Listed under “Keep it or toss it?” you will find tips on how long items will last in the refrigerator, how to store it for best results and whether or not it will freeze. The perfect tool to keep us from being wasteful. Along with these great lists from The KitchnEat this week! (to keep track of what you’ve got hidden in the bottom of your refrigerator) and  Leftovers log (a log of what you’ve cooked and when to eat it), we will be sure to eat everything we purchase and cook.

And check out The Kitchn Cure too – a series of assignments designed to help get your kitchen in shape. The goal, in six fast weeks, is for your kitchen to be clean, healthy and organized, and your cooking more nourishing and delicious than ever.  It started on April 13, so check it out soon, and see if you can catch up!
