Eat Healthy Monday – Coming Soon, Spring Cooking!
April 6th, 2009 No Comments
Today’s Tip: Get inspired for spring cooking! The April rains and warmer weather must be a sure sign that new and exciting produce is on its way. After months of mostly apples, onions, and potatoes, the farmers’ markets will soon be filled with asparagus, lettuce, radishes, strawberries, and maybe some locally grown hot house items! After cooking for the winter months, it’s time to think about spring eating.
If you are bored with your cookbooks, check out recipes online. Vital Juice Daily compiled the “10 Best Recipe Sites,” including videos, seasonal eating and even a site that will match your cravings with a recipe. We also have recipes in Sustainable Table’s kitchen section.
Shop for seasonal ingredients at your local farmers’ market or join a CSA. You can find them listed on Eat Well Guide or at Local Harvest.
To find out what is coming into season near you, go to NRDC’s Eat Local page.
If you aren’t the cooking type, find restaurants cooking with seasonal ingredients at the Eat Well Guide.
