I have a few suggestions for affording organic foods in hard economic times. First, start growing your own. Now is the time to start seeds for the coming growing season. If space is limited, just choose some of your favorites. If space is VERY limited, grow some veggies in large pots. Second, get out into the countryside and find a small scale organic farmer to buy from. The cost will be lower and the food fresher. Third, since you are not poisoning your body with chemicals, your medical costs should be lower. Take some of the money from your medical budget and use it to buy organic food. I would consider that a very good investment.
