Today’s tip: Give a sustainable food cookbook as a holiday present!

While any recipe can be turned sustainable by buying your ingredients from a local producer, some folks would rather start with a recipe from a book based on sustainable cooking. We have a page full of cookbook ideas on our website in the Sustainable Kitchen section.

Books such as The Niman Ranch Cookbook, will appeal to the meat-lovers, and Farmer John’s Cookbook – The Real Dirt on Vegetables, will delight vegetarians and meat-eaters (meat-eaters need vegetables too!). Other choices focus on seasonal, farmers markets and food as a social movement.

Give a cookbook to a friend or family member and then offer to shop at a farmers market with them and make dinner together! Happy holidays!
