Pie Across America Lives On!
January 24th, 2008 No Comments
The road trip continues in this interesting post on the “Intelligent Traveler” blog from National Geographic Travel about culinary tourism. Yummy road trips in different parts of the US- and they mention our Eat Well Guided Tour of America!“And it’s not just tourism boards that are offering resources for foodie travelers: SustainableTable.org’s Eat Well Guided Tour Across America visited farms, markets, and restaurants that “serve local, in-season, sustainably-produced food all across the country.” Highlights include the delectable-sounding Pie Across America project.”
I really love the idea of eating my way through a road trip- and NOT eating at Applebee’s, Cracker Barrel, or Perkins Restaurant & Bakery. Just looking around the internet a bit I found local area tours for wine, farmers markets, dairy, beer, farms and more. While they mention in the article that many of these tours might be marketing for places to get people into their establishments- you can be sure that all of the stops on our tour were good old fashion hospitable sustainable people inviting us in for a piece of pie.
