Small Farm Numbers Getting…Well, Smaller
February 12th, 2007 No CommentsRed Orbit reported today that the numbers of family farms dropped again last year in South Dakota, a trend that sadly, follows that of the rest of the nation. Read the rest of the USDA report Farms, Land in Farms, and Livestock Operations 2006 Summary.
One of the saddest statistics in the report is that between 2005 and 2006 the United States lost 8,900 farms – which is a little more than the loss of 1 farm per hour.
