diet_dead.jpgChristopher Cook’s Diet For A Dead Planet, which appeared in 2004, is now in paperback edition, with a new foreword, as well as updates throughout the book on the ever-changing facets of the world of food.

An overview on the subject of how our food system has gone terribly wrong, you might call it the bible of our industrialized food woes. As Cook meticulously deconstructs the many myths we’ve been taught about choice, value, and even equality when it comes to American food, the hidden actors and factors behind our corn flakes begin to appear.

A highly recommended read for anyone interested in the nitty-gritty of food-run-afoul, Cook’s book is a diet for disillusionment, but with a measure of redemption mixed in. We are encouraged to take matters into our own hands, and realize that, as enormous as these problems loom, we get closer to the solutions every day.
