03-17-aqualung.jpgToday, my friend Benny, who works at Columbia Records in the publicity department, hooked Rebecca and I up with passes to a showcase for one of the bands he works with – Aqualung. Have to say, I was quite impressed. It was a rather posh affair, maybe 20 – 30 people in a room in a very nice hotel – with comfy couches and chairs spread all around.

During the show, it dawned on me that perhaps we could not only try to get someone to perform music for the sequel to The Meatrix, but maybe we could find a band to do a theme song – you know, like the Partridge Family had. We’re going to look into it.

As we were waiting for the parking attendant to escort Moopheus to us (he was in the car during the showcase), we ran into the singer Matt from the band. He’s a lovely person. I’m completely out of touch with music these days so have no idea if the band is popular or not, but I highly recommend you check them out if you like Radiohead kind of music.

When Moopheus joined us, we snapped a photo of the two celebrities (Rebecca has it up on her post.) Moopheus also had to be a tourist and get his photo outside the hotel.

We then took him around the city. If you look hard in this first photo, you can see the state capital of Texas in the background.

During our time here, we’ve come across these really strange birds. They look like crows but they have the creepiest, snarliest noise that comes out of them. It’s like it’s from a horror movie. This guy was right above us in Barton Springs park (a pretty cool place where there’s a natural spring that you can go swimming in).

The rest of the day slipped by us. It’s now just after 9pm and we’re getting ready to go out. I’m starting to look forward to going home and doing nothing!….
