SXSW, Saturday night, March 12

I forgot to mention earlier that giveaway excitement started Saturday afternoon when the pooping pig and cow keychains arrived. They’re
key chains with soft plastic toy cow or pigs on the end. When you squeeze their backside, a ball of plastic poop comes out.

Sounds gross, but they’re quite cute. We put tags on them with The Meatrix showtimes here in Austin, and a picture of Moopheus with our web address. And I must say, they’ve been quite the hit.

We spent the day handing them out, along with post cards and magnets. We also had made 8 1/2 x 11 color posters for The Meatrix, so we put them up all over the convention center. I made sure to give keychains to people who work here in the hotel, people who helped us at the festival, and anyone who simply looked like they would enjoy a pooping pig or cow. People literally squealed with delight when they got them – it was amazing! We ran out today and have more being sent down for tomorrow.

After the excitement of giving things away and plugging The Meatrix everywhere, and after carting Moopheus around the convention center all day, we went back to our hotel and readied ourselves for another night of schmoozing and hanging out. We gave Moopheus the night off, so he came back to the hotel room and just hung out.

We went off to a party for a film called Hooligans. I haven’t had a chance to see one film down here yet, but this one apparently has quite a buzz around it. I’m hoping I can check it out before I go. The party was pretty good – Rebecca and I didn’t stay long, but Louis informed us later that Elijah Wood (of Lord of the Rings fame) was DJing downstairs in the club. I can’t even remember where I went.

I just don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing….
