SXSW, Friday day, March 18
Well, the Indie 911 showcase was a success. We met great people, Moopheus schmoozed with bands and fans alike, and we were able to show the film to people who hadn’t seen it before. Moopheus even got up onstage himself to have a little go (he’s a multi-talented animal…).
We got to the venue [...]
SXSW, Friday morning, March 18
Oh, how I long for my apartment in New York and the peace there…. But, having said that, Rebecca and I went two-stepping last night at the Broken Spoke. If you ever get to Austin, for SXSW or not, you have to go to the Broken Spoke. The music is great, the [...]
SXSW, Thurs March 17
Today, my friend Benny, who works at Columbia Records in the publicity department, hooked Rebecca and I up with passes to a showcase for one of the bands he works with – Aqualung. Have to say, I was quite impressed. It was a rather posh affair, maybe 20 – 30 people in a [...]
SXSW, Thursday, March 17
The comments are finally working! Please post, and that includes you, cubies – you know who you are.
We dove into the SXSW Music Festival scene today. Or, actually, dipped our little toes in. There are 1300 bands. We managed to see one. Pretty good considering we’re completely wiped out from the web and film [...]
SXSW, Weds, March 16
I’ve lost track of the date – it’s a nice feeling, but I’m not even sure it’s Wednesday. At this point, I feel like I’ve been here for several months.
Well, it has been decided. There will be Meatrix sequels. We’re hoping to have the second one out by the end of May. We’re also going to try to chronicle the process for you here, so you can get a little feel for what it’s like to undertake something like this.
SXSW, Tuesday March 15
Rebecca here. On Tuesday we actually had a chance to experience some of the panels for the interactive part of SXSW. There are some very exciting ideas floating around about the future of the internet. What impresses me is how much these ideas are centered on how technology can serve ideas instead of the other [...]
SXSW, Sunday, March 13
Sunday was a big day for all of us. We did the usual festival/conference thing during the day – hung out, went to some panels, checked out the exhibition hall. But the entire day was simply something we had to get through in order to make it to the evening’s festivities. [...]
SXSW, Saturday night, March 12
I forgot to mention earlier that giveaway excitement started Saturday afternoon when the pooping pig and cow keychains arrived. They’re
key chains with soft plastic toy cow or pigs on the end. When you squeeze their backside, a ball of plastic poop comes out.
Sounds gross, but they’re quite cute. We put tags [...]
SXSW, Saturday afternoon, March 12
After checking in and getting our bearings at the conference, we started schmoozing. I always find walking up to strangers and starting a conversation to be rather intimidating, but what a difference when you’re being escorted by a six foot cut-out cow!
